Naby Laye Keita is a professional footballer from Guinea who captains the Guinean national team and plays in the Premier League for Liverpool as a central midfielder. Keta began his professional career in 2013 with FC Istres, a club in Ligue 2, before moving to Red Bull Salzburg, where he won the Austrian Football Bundesliga and Austrian Cup twice in two seasons. After that, in 2016, he made a move to RB Leipzig, where he was named the Bundesliga team of the year his first year and to the UEFA Europa League team of the year his second. He said yes to Liverpool in 2017 and signed a year later.
He won the UEFA Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, and Premier League during his first season there. In 2012, Keta made his Guinean senior international debut. He has played for more than 40 countries and represented them at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015, 2019, and 2021. At nine, Keita joined Horoya AC, his hometown team. He moved to France in 2012, joining the young group of FC Istres after fruitless preliminaries at FC Lorient and Le Monitors FC. He was elevated to Istres’ first team in 2013. He made his Ligue 2 debut against Nîmes Olympique on November 22, 2013.
