Personal Information

Shabir Ibrahim Kaskar شبير ابراهيم قصقر was a well-known Mumbai-based Indian criminal who passed away on 12 February 1981.

He was Dawood Ibrahim’s older brother, the current D-Company gang leader.

The Mumbai police’s sympathetic attitude toward Shabir and Dawood’s rise in Mumbai’s underworld sparked the jealousy and resentment of other established Pathan gang members from the South Mumbai area.

Finally, the rivalry between the gangs grew to the point where Manya Surve, his gang, and Amirzada and Alamzeb planned to kill Dawood and Shabir.

In Prabhadevi, on 12 February 1981, they shot Shabir dead at a gas station.

Shabir’s murder is a significant event in Mumbai’s underworld because it sparked a bloody gang war between the Dawood Ibrahim gang and the Pathan gang.

This war resulted in numerous shootouts until retired don Karim Lala requested a truce, at which point the Dawood Ibrahim gang took over as the dominant force.

Shabir Ibrahim Kaskar is a member of the Maniyar/Manihar Muslim community.

He was born in 1955 in Mumka village in Ratnagiri district, Konkan region, the Indian state of Maharashtra.

He is the son of a police head constable named Ibrahim Kaskar Maniyar.

His father, Ibrahim Kaskar, worked in the CID section of the Azad Maidan police station as a police constable.

There were eight children in the family, and they were always poor.

Shabir and Dawood, his younger brother, had dropped out of school and frequently wandered the Dongri-Bhendi Bazar streets.

In those days, the Pathan gang’s leader, Karim Lala, and the smuggler, Haji Mastan, who had a cult following among the poor Muslim youths in South Mumbai, including Shabir and Dawood, were feared and revered.

Soon, Shabir and Dawood joined the minor street crime of smuggling watches and electronics.

They engaged in street brawls and frequently duped gullible travelers. Young Company was the name that Shabir, Dawood, and their friends gave their group.

They would congregate near Crawford Market in search of gullible tourists and provide them with smuggled Rolex watches at a pitiful price in comparison to what they would have paid for them.

To avoid police suspicion, they would pretend to wrap the watch in a small piece of paper or cloth after the buyer paid in cash and tell the buyer not to open it.

Instead of a watch, it would be a stone. This activity was referred to as Alta-palti.

With the assistance of bulky Pathan criminals from the neighborhood, they would intimidate the buyer if he discovered that he had been cheated and accosted by them.

Their father requested that Haji Mastan provide decent employment for his wastrel sons.

They worked for a while in an electronics store at Manish Market on Mastan’s orders, but they quickly returned to their petty crimes and gang fights.

They were soon accepted into the Pathan gang, where they worked odd jobs, frequently transporting illegal goods and contraband from one location to another.

Karim Lala led the Pathan gang.

Amirzada, Alamzeb, his nephew Samad Khan, Saeed Batla, and Ayub Lala, all Pathan cronies, backed him.

With Bashu dada and other gangsters, the Ibrahim brothers collaborated.

Dawood, the son of a police officer, would gain the support of the Mumbai police and develop what was viewed at the time as a symbiotic relationship to rid Mumbai of its trash, a term used to describe criminals who target innocent people and law enforcement.

This was due to the Pathan gangs’ growing violence and notoriety. According to some accounts, Mumbai police officers made the deliberate decision to ignore the illegal activities of the Ibrahim brothers while utilizing their assistance in pursuing the larger Pathan gang.

As a direct consequence of this, the Ibrahim brothers were able to carry out attacks on the Pathan gang while enjoying immunity, garnering the support of members of the general public, members of law enforcement, and editors of local newspapers who hailed them as the protectors of the community. Iqbal Naatiq was the journalist who supported the brothers the most and helped portray them as heroes.

Iqbal would collaborate with the Ibrahim brothers and the police to combat the Pathans, whom he believed unnecessarily targeted innocent civilians.

Iqbal Naatiq informed the police about the illegal gambling and liquor dens owned by Ayub Lala and Saeed Batla.

The police kidnapped Naatiq and brutally stabbed him 67 times, killing him. Manoj Bajpai’s personality Zubair Imtiaz Haksar in the film, Shootout at Wadala depended on Shabir Ibrahim Kaskar.

On their promos, Shootout at Wadala first used the name Shabir Ibrahim Kaskar, which they later changed to Zubair Imtiaz Haksar.
